People’s Democratic Party presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and the party’s national leaders are expected in Kano on Monday (today) to receive the senator representing Kano Central, Ibrahim Shekarau and his political associates, back to the party.

Shekarau had dumped the PDP for the All Progressives Congress in 2019.

He was subsequently elected to the Senate on the platform of the ruling party.

However, he got into an argument with Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and defected to the New Nigeria People’s Party, where he spent only a few months in the new party before his relationship with Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso soured after some of the Senator’s staunch loyalists were denied NNPP tickets. for vote in the upcoming general election for electoral positions.

The former governor is now set to return to the PDP.

Speaking to reporters about the development on Sunday, PDP state chairman Shehu Sagagi said Shekarau had agreed to return to the party.
