The president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret.), said Saturday that in his quest to develop the country’s economy, he facilitated the National Social Investment Program that provided N-Power, TraderMoni, MarketMoni and other subsidized loans to alleviate poverty. reduce and create employment opportunities among Nigerians.
Buhari stated this in what would be his final Independence Day speech to the country on October 1, 2022.
According to him, “The federal government is already expanding port operations to ensure they provide opportunities for the growth of the Nigerian economy.
“We have also continued to accelerate our infrastructure development through useful and transparent lending, enhanced capital inflows and increased income generation through expanding tax bases and prudent management of investment income in the Sovereign Wealth Fund.
The president also noted that not a single village in the country was left behind in the regime’s social investment programs such as N-Power, trader-moni, market moni, etc.
“I am pleased to inform my fellow citizens that in addition to our emphasis on infrastructural development with the associated opportunities for job creation, employment generation and subsequent poverty reduction, our targeted intervention directly to Nigerians through the National Social Investment Program also benefits.
“All of the above programs, along with various interventions from the National Social Investment program, direct aid to victims of floods and other forms of disaster, have helped affected Nigerians,” Buhari said.
