The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a fake soldier, Andy Edwards, who allegedly posed as a soldier and modeling agent to rob unsuspecting members of the public of their valuables in the state.

State police public relations officer SP Benjamin Hundeyin said in a statement on Sunday that Edwards, after posing as a model agent, usually invited ladies to audition.

He said that when the ladies showed up for the audition; the suspect would take advantage of the situation to rob them of their valuables.

Hundeyin noted that one of Edwards’ victims turned him in to police, adding that police officers charged with investigating the matter arrested the suspect.

The PPRO said: “Detectives from the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a fake army captain, Andy Edwards, 39, for armed robbery.

“The fake soldier, posing as a model agent, would invite ladies to audition and then rob them of their cars and valuables at gunpoint.

He was arrested following a close investigation launched after one of his victims reported the theft of her Lexus RX330 SUV.

“Further investigations have led to the discovery of, among other things, one Ford Edge SUV with registration number KRD 276 EG, one sewing machine, one POS machine.”
