Gunmen reportedly killed an army whose name was obtained simply as Major Churchill Orji, in Anambra state.

A classmate of the deceased, Leonard Edu, confirmed the development to our correspondent.
He said, ‘He was my senior at Agulu Boys Secondary School. Our work is then perfect. It is true that he was killed by gunmen in Asia, in Ihiala LGA.
Another source in a tribute said: “Rest in peace, my brother from Nneogidi village, Agulu, Major Churchill killed Orji yesterday (Sunday) in Asia/Ukpor while defending the southeast against the looters.
Again, another source said, “An Anambra Native Major C Orji was killed in the Ihiala/Asia axis by gunmen.”

Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, said in a telephone call that he had not yet received a report on the incidents.
The Ihiala Axis, bordering Imo state, where the army major was reportedly killed, is notorious for the activities of people suspected of being rioters of Biafra.
However, in the past two months normalcy had gradually returned to the area before the recent development, following the assassination of the suspected leader of the feared gunmen named ‘Double Lion’, who was operating from the Orlu area of Imo state through some communities. in Ihiala and Nnewi South in Anambra. Double Lion and four members of his gang were murdered by a suspected rival group in Ihiala in June, at a time when it had become terrifying to travel across the state.
It was understood that Double Lion originally belonged to the regular shooters, but later formed another, more daring group.
His group reportedly terrorized most of the communities in the Anambra South Senate zone and forced those holding positions to pay them hundreds of thousands of naira before such functions could take place.
After the money was paid, the event organizers were strictly warned never to invite security guards.
