The pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, has expressed serious concerns about growing insecurity in Nigeria.

In a statement from the National Publicity Secretary, Jare Ajayi, the group questioned Monday whether the president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd.), was aware of the situation.

The group said the level of insecurity was unprecedented, while calling on Buhari to show that he was serious about ending the spate of murders and kidnappings across the country.

Afenifere said: “Because of the way the government is dealing with them, terrorists and kidnappers have been so encouraged that they now attack security institutions at will and maliciously enter their victims’ homes to associate with fellow Nigerians – all under the watch of the government.” government and security services!

“President Muhammadu Buhari must come out and let the perpetrators of terrorism and kidnapping know that he has had enough. He should make them realize that the pact he signed with Nigerians was not to come and watch the serial termination of their lives, but to ensure their safety, improve their well-being and take the nation to a desirable next level. .

“Unfortunately, the president has not been able to achieve any of the desired things. He only brought the negatives to the nation that were far from anyone’s expectation.”

Ajayi appealed to Buhari to show that he was still there as commander in chief.

Afenifere criticized the idea of reintegrating confirmed terrorists and bandits “as evidence has shown that such seemingly reintegrated bandits continue to commit crimes more heinous than those for which they were previously known.”

He reiterated Afenifere’s stance on the need for state police to take proper care of our security services.

“What Nigerians expect from the government is not sympathy, but actions that will put a total end to the nightmare, indeed life-ending experiences they are currently going through!

“The president can delegate any necessary powers to his vice president with whom he has shared a joint ticket anyway, especially given his previous statement that he was out for May 29, 2023 to come soon,” Afenifere added.
