Kano’s police command has reassured residents of its determination to curb all forms of crime in the state.

The newly appointed police commissioner, Abubakar Lawal, gave assurances while addressing officers and men on Tuesday.

Lawal, who took office last Friday, said the command would adopt a new strategy called “Operation Restoration of Peace in Kano State,” which will address the threat of violence, drug abuse and other heinous crimes within the state.

CP Lawal explained that Operation Restore Peace is a replacement for “Operation Puff Adder” which would apply the command across all police components to bolster the capacity of its Tactical Units and Divisional Offices.

He stressed that anti-crime strategies would be incorporated into the Command’s action plan, which consists of robust community policing tasks, intelligence-led policing, visibility policing, use of technology in tackling crime, synergy with sister security agencies and community policing interests.

The CP further insisted that the Command would strengthen its Public Relations Department through mass education and awareness-raising on radio, television and social media with a view to educating the public on the importance of disclosing information to security forces to address security challenges in to limit.

The commissioner, who took up the job as the 43rd Kano State Police Commissioner on August 26, 2022, said he met concrete structures of police strategy in the state upon arrival that he promised to improve and maintain after studying. of the demographic crime map and an action plan was analytically designed to effectively monitor the state.

He instructed all supervisors to work in accordance with the provisions of the Police Act 2020 and the Constitution, while responding to the police mission and vision of the Inspector General of Police.

CP Abubakar Lawal requested the cooperation, support and encouragement of all citizens and pledged that no stone would be left unturned in the fight against crime and crime.
