Nigerian Folashade Oluwafemiayo has won the gold medal for Nigeria in the women’s heavyweight powerlifting event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Folashade broke the world record after lifting 130kg, 150kg and 155kg to score a cumulative 123.4 points, to win gold again for Nigeria on Thursday night.

Nigeria took the gold and silver medals in the event with Bose Omolayo finishing second behind her compatriot to make it a Nigerian 1-2. Omolayo had lifted 145 kg and scored 115.2 points to get on the podium.

Watson Hani from Australia took the bronze medal.

Nigerian women have done very well at the CWG 2022, breaking records and making the country proud, which takes place in Birmingham, England.
