The Osun State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party on Tuesday submitted its response to the petition of All Progressives Congress candidate in the July 16 gubernatorial poll, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, before the Election Request Tribunal, challenging the victory of Senator Ademola Adeleke .

Speaking to The PUNCH at the Osogbo tribunal site, a lawyer representing the PDP, Mr Hasim Abioye, said the party had also brought its witnesses before the panel to sign their statements under oath.

Abioye, the secretary of the PDP’s Legal Committee, said that while the party had 21 days to submit its response to the petition, it decided to reply on the 14th day after receiving the petition to express its readiness for to show the case.

He said: “We have 21 days to submit our answer. This is the 14th day and to show that we are always ready, fit as a fiddle, and that we are not running anywhere, we have submitted our answer.

“I think we have over 100 witnesses. You can see some of them here. Others are yet to come. So I can tell you that in order to get that number in line, we are fully prepared to defend this mandate.

“It is to show that the election petition filed by the APC and Governor Oyetola is a waste of time because it was brought in dead and you will see that at the end of the day.”
