Police Inspector General (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba, on behalf of the Force Management team, and officers of the Nigeria Police Force on Friday mourned the death of 11th Indigenous Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Mustafa Adebayo Balogun, which took place on Thursday at a private hospital in Lagos after a short illness.

This was stated in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

According to the statement, “IGP Mustapha Adebayo Balogun, NPM, fwc, from Ila-Orangun in Osun State, was Inspector General of Police of Nigeria between March 2002 and January 2005 and achieved major operational milestones including facilitating the establishment of the Police Mobile Force Training College, Ila-Orangun, Osun State.

Graduated from University of Lagos and University of Ibadan where he studied political science and law respectively,

“The former IGP held various administrative, operational and investigative positions across the country.

The late IGP Tafa, as he was affectionately known, was a fellow of the National War College, as it was then called, but now National Defense College, Abuja.

He also had many Master’s Degrees across many academic and professional fields.

The deceased IGP will be buried on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at his mansion in Ila-Orangun, Osun state, according to Islamic rites.

The Inspector General of Police offered his condolences to the immediate family, relatives, fellow students and friends of the late IGP and prayed for the peace of his soul.
