A 50-year-old man, Kazeem Bamidele, has been arraigned at Ogba Magistrate’s Court, Ikeja, Lagos State, for stealing several phones from unsuspecting members of the public in the state.

The defendant, along with others still at large, was charged with a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy and theft.

The indictment read, in part: “That you called Kazeem Bamidele, aka Elewure, and others who are still roaming free, on July 9, 2022, at around 10:30 PM in Ajegunle, in the Ajeromi area of ​​Lagos, in the State’s Magisterial District. Lagos, have unfairly received one iPhone 12 pro max worth N520,000.00 owned by one Ojobaro Michael.

“That you Kazeem Bamidele, aka Elewure, and others who are still at large on July 9, 2022, around 10:30 PM in Ajegunle, in the Ajeromi area of ​​Lagos, in the Magisterial District of Lagos State, 76 different types of phones stolen from unsuspected victims.”

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail of N500,000 with two securities in the same amount. The case was adjourned for trial.

In a related development, a 42-year-old man, Wasiu Adele, was arraigned in the Ogba Magistrate Court for alleged theft of property worth N4.80m and possession of counterfeit currency.

The defendant and others now at large are said to have stolen property worth N4.80m and possessed four pieces of counterfeit N1000 notes.
