A former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has recalled that the ‘O to ge’ campaign passed by the ruling All Progressives Congress in Kwara State to oust the People’s Democratic Party from government is full of lies and was cheating.

He said the strategy was adopted to mislead the people of the state just to win elections.

Saraki spoke in the state’s capital Ilorin on Saturday as she received members of the state’s ruling APC who defected to the PDP.

The APC won the 2019 general election by 100 percent in the state, winning the governor’s seat, the three seats in the Senate, six seats in the House of Representatives and 24 seats in the House of Representatives.

Saraki received the defectors and described the 2019 ‘O to ge’ movement adopted by the APC to win the election as lies.

“But the Kwarans have now learned their lessons in a bitter way. I have every confidence that the PDP will send the APC away from Government House in 2023 by the grace of God,” he said.

He said he based his optimism on what he described as the terrible performance of the current governor, AbdulRaman Abdulrazaq.

The PDP’s state chairman, Babatunde Mohammed, assured the defectors a level playing field in all of the party’s activities in the state.

“Residents of the state, both native and non-indigenous, now regret having wrongly voted for the current government in 2019,” he added.

The defectors, who were led by Kayode Ogunlowo, made their action dependent on alleged victimization and intimidation by the current government in the state.
